Item of Value - Bumbo Floor Seat

Designed for infants from 3 months to 1 year, the Bumbo floor seat is a great way for bubs to sit and play (un-aided) while helping their posture.
I got one of these for my baby recently as she is just starting to be able to hold her own head up and she seems to have lost interest in sitting in a reclined position in her bouncer.
I wanted somewhere for her to sit where she could sit up straight and that also helped her strength and posture.

You can also purchase the Play Tray which is great for bubs to play with her toys on.
I love the fact that it gives bubs some independence, it's safe, portable and easy to clean.
Baby Bunting actually have a sale on at the moment where you can get a Bumbo package which includes the chair and tray for $60.

Parent Room #3 - Westfield Westlakes

This parent room is located right next to Target and Cibos.
Definately the best room so far at Westfield West Lakes.
Very clean, modern and nice lighting. (Well lit without being too bright!)

Large bench for bottle preparation with microwave and sink.

Large baby changing area and comfy seats.

There is a large enclosed play area with tv for older children (tv not on too loud), private feeding cubicles and even a "pram parking" area.
Plenty of room for a few parents with prams/ trolleys.

The parent/child bathroom is also very large and has a child toilet and sink as well as normal adult sized toilet and sink.

Overall, this is the best parent room by far.
Very clean, large, secure, all required amenities and just has a really nice feel about it.  :)

Parent Room #2- Westfield West Lakes

This parent room is located near Woolworths across from Priceline.
My first impression was that it is very clean and a lot larger than the room in the food court.

There is enough room for 5 babies to be changed at once and there is plenty of room for prams and trolleys.
There is a microwave, nappy dispensers and sinks near the change areas.

For older children there is an activity board, tv and a table and chairs with some toys in the centre of the room.

There are 3 private feeding cubicles with chairs and highchairs for older children  and 2 additional comfy chairs.

The parent/child bathroom has a child sized toilet but the bathroom itself is a bit small if you are trying to take a pram or trolley inside.

Cupcakes

Even when I'm on a diet, I always make an exception when it comes to cupcakes.
Ecspecially when it's BTS cupcakes!
If you haven't tried these... You are missing out!!
Today I sampled the "Scarlett."
A red velvet cake with vanilla cream cheese frosting. Sooo delicious!

The BTS cafe is a gorgeous cafe too!
Unfortunately parking on Gouger street is hard to come by so I had to grab my cake to go.
If you have time and a park, I would suggest dining in. The staff are very sweet and helpful.

Parent room #1 - Westfield West Lakes

Today's review is the Westfield West Lakes parent room in the food court.

Westfield West Lakes has a few parent rooms but I thought the one located in the food court would have been one of the bigger ones. I actually found it to be quite small.
Only one private feeding area and it didn't have the best seating. A large blue leathery/slippery couch that seemed a bit impractical for feeding and too big if you are in the cubicle with your pram.

If the feeding cubicle is occupied, there are some other chairs to sit/feed on in the main parent room area but no privacy for feeding and there's not a lot of room if there is more than one parent with a pram.

The parent/child toilet was large enough to take a pram or trolley in and had a child sized toilet but could have done with a clean.
There was enough room in the changing area for 2 babies to be changed at a time   But I thought the sink was placed in a bit of an odd location.

Across from the change area there is a microwave for bottle preparation and a nappy dispenser.

For any older children there is an activity board and a tv (which I thought was on a bit too loud) and some little chairs and table which looked a bit old and worn.
Overall, not the best parent room.
There are other/better parent rooms at Westfield Westlakes that I will be reviewing in the next couple of days.

Highchair recommendations please!

My little Cabbage will almost be starting on solids so I think it's time we get a highchair.
I've been putting it off because shopping for a pram was hard enough! There are just waaaay to many to choose from!
I always find it really daunting walking into a large baby store and being confronted with dozens of different types of highchairs and not knowing what features I need and which features are just gimmicky. Do I buy something that's more expensive and will last a few years or get something more budget friendly but has all the "bells and whistles?"
There is also the added annoyance of having champagne taste on a beer budget. I always seem to fall in love with the "prettier" more expensive models but not necessarily the more practical ones.
I did some browsing online and here are my 2 favorites so far...
The steelcraft Messina

Or.....

The Age HiLo

Anybody have any thoughts? Either on these 2 models or any others I should be looking at? Any features I should be looking for or gimmicks I should stay away from?

Item of Value- Aden & Anais Burpy Bib

At my baby shower I received a tonne of bibs! Up until a week ago I was wondering if I was ever going to use them...Then my bub started drooling and chucking!
Now I know why everyone keeps telling me you can never have too many bibs! EVERYTHING is wet! Now I have bibs in every room of my house, the car and my nappy bag.
My favourite bib/burping cloth I received  is the "Burpy Bib" by Aden & Anais.

A simple 100% cotton muslin cloth with a great design. The gentle scooped cut is shaped to fit around around your baby's neck as a bib and also fits perfectly when draped over your shoulder as a burping cloth.
I love it because it's 2 things in 1, (which is great when your trying to limit the weight of your nappy bag) it's a "one size fits all" and it's so easy to wash.
I have one of the classic cotton muslin ones but they also come in bamboo,
organic, terry velour and in many different  colours.
You can get them from adenandanais.com or at Jetty Babes on Jetty Road at Brighton.

Jenny's Bakery

So today I decided to forfeit my diet (for a day) in order to try the infamous "Cronut" at Jenny's Bakery.
I've been hearing about this mix between a croissant and donut for awhile and decided it was time I give it a shot.
Got there at about midday and luckily there was still a few left. (Apparantly it's best to get there early before they all sell out. These guys are popular!)

I opted for the salted caramel. OMG! Yum! These things are dangerous! Kinda glad I don't live too close to Jenny's bakery otherwise I would be as big as a house!

I also had a healthy chicken wrap and a latte. The wrap tasted fresh but the coffee tasted a bit burnt. If you decide to dine in, there is a nice non-smoking outdoor area.

However, the toilet facilities leave a lot to be desired. Located down a side driveway there is one toilet with a hand basin. Not lovingly taken care of. No baby changing facilities either so I would suggest grabbing your cronuts to takeaway.

Parent Room at Castle Plaza, Edwardstown

Today's featured Parent room is at Castle Plaza at Edwardstown.
This parent room definately has the most daring colour scheme I've seen so far.
The room itself is quite small. Only really big enough for one parent with a pram at a time.
One comfy chair for feeding but it seems too big for the room and squished really close  to the changing bench and sink. No real privacy if anyone else enters the room.
Due to the small space, there is no room for older children to play or even sit.
There are 3 sinks. One near the changing area, one near the microwave and bottle prep area and one in the bathroom.

The changing area was very clean but there is only enough room for one child to be changed at a time.
There is a sink close by, nappy disposal bins, soap dispenser and hand dryer.
The bottle prep area has a microwave, sink and hand dryer. The button to open the sliding doors of the parent room is located here however, it seems a little too low. Could perhaps be frustrating if older children can reach it while your back is turned changing an infant.
The toilet area is great! Normal sized loo for adults and a child sized one too!
Plenty of room to take in pram if needed.
Another sink in the toilet area and it's low enough for children to wash their hands with ease.

I found this parent room to be very bright and modern and very clean.
Lots of hand washing facilities with additional child sized toilets and sinks.
The toilet area is large but the parent room itself is very small and really only big enough for one family at a time. Lacks private feeding areas and anywhere for older children to sit or play.
Castle plaza isn't the biggest shopping centre in Adelaide but while I was there I noticed that there was a large number of mums with prams. I think the shopping centre should either look at expanding the current parent room or put in another one.

Welcome to "Mums of Adelaide!"

I know...I am such a cliche!
A new mum who decides to start a "Mummy Blog." So not original right?!
I agree! However, I really believe some mums or "mums to be," may find my blog helpful!

My gorgeous bundle of joy is almost 4 months now and like every other mum, my life now revolves around a timetable consisting of feeding, sleeping, playtime and nappy changes.
Thus, I am learning how important it is now that when I am out and about, that I am within close proximity to "decent" Parent Rooms and that the cafes and restaurants that I frequent, have change tables, enough room for prams or are just generally baby/child friendly.

Due to this, I started posting pics and reviews of parent rooms and baby friendly cafes on my Instagram account for friends with children. As popularity grew, the idea to setup a separate Instagram account called "Mums of Adelaide" came about.

Now with the continued growth of "Mums of Adelaide," I have decided to start this blog to try and help mothers around Adelaide plan their outings with ease by reviewing Parent Rooms, baby and child friendly businesses and showcasing any pretty and cute things along the way.
I also like to promote sales/specials and any businesses and products that have mums, families and children in mind.

If anyone has any places or products they would like to recommend or would like me to review, please email me.
